This is the story that will lead about 50,000 awful, hand-wringing newspaper columns tomorrow, so you heard it here first: Joe Flacco skipped the birth of his second son today to play the Cleveland Browns. The news was, weirdly, confirmed by the Ravens' Twitter account this afternoon.
Joe Flacco's wife gave birth to the couple's second boy about an hour before Sunday's game. FULL STORY | http://t.co/nRw8HgymFV— Baltimore Ravens (@Ravens) September 15, 2013
Eh, second son, right? Everyone knows the first birth is the most important. (I'm a first child.) And the banner was going up at M&T today! You can't miss that.
Kidding aside, this is, obviously, something that has no right answer. It was a decision between Flacco and his wife (and maybe the $120.6 million the Ravens paid the two over the offseason)—but still, many, many people will speculate about its wisdom next week. Which is already kind of annoying.
