Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta was a late scratch from today’s exhibition game against the New York Mets for a very odd reason. He got his hands on some bad chowder.

Leyland on Peralta: "He ate some clam chowder and he's allergic to it. He didn't realize it was clam chowder until he ate it."
