Jerry Rice Admitted To Using Illegal ‘Stickum’ In Games Days Before Calling The New England Patriots Cheaters

In a video segment that was recently brought to light by the readers of Profootballtalk.com, Jerry Rice admitted that he used to put stickum on his gloves during his playing days.

“I know this might be a little illegal, guys, I just put a little spray, a little stickum on them, to make sure that texture is a little sticky,”

Stickum and other adhesives were banned by the NFL in 1981. Rice started playing in the league in 1985. So Rice must have known that using Stickum wasn’t just a “little illegal, but fully illegal at the time.

Just a few days after the ESPN video was published Rice was extremely critical of the NeW England Patriots after Deflategate, going as far as calling the Patriots cheaters.

“I’m going to be point blank, I feel like it’s cheating,” “Because you have an edge up on your opponent and its unfortunate that it happened…. I’ve played in cold weather, I know how hard the football is and you can grip the leather just a little bit better “

Rice went a step further saying that the Patriots deserved an asterisk if they won the Super Bowl.

“I think you have to really put an asterisk on it, because this is going to follow them, you know, for the rest of their lives, because when you look at it, when people go back and they think about the New England Patriots, they’re going to think about these controversies,” .

So according to Jerry’s logic we should probably also put asterisks on all of the San Francisco 49’ers champuonships as well.
