Idiotic Massachusetts Attorney General Wants A Fantasy Sports Ban For People Under 21

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey believes fantasy sports sites like DraftKings and FanDuel should continue to operate, but under a specific set of new rules and regulations, some of which are colossally stupid.

One piece of the proposal that sticks out like Mutombo walking the streets of China is a ban on anyone under 21 participating in daily fantasy sports. Healey is also calling for a ban on any advertising of these sites on college campuses, places that house adults. LEGAL. ADULTS.

“It is my belief that this is the best path forward when it comes to protect consumers, protecting minors and the like,” Healey said.

Since when is a person under the age of 21 considered a minor? And why the hell would anyone under 21 not be allowed to play fantasy fucking football? Chain smoking and keeping your eyeballs locked on live scoring updates go hand-in-hand, so 18 years and older would seem like the logical choice.

Banning activity for those under 18 would be reasonable, I suppose. But for the life of me, I cannot come up with a single reason why turning 21 must be the seminal moment where a person’s fruitful adventure as a daily fantasy sports player needs to begin; and not a day sooner.

This is just dumb. Expect it to get even dumber over the course of the next several months.
