The Big East announced today that Tulane, a college located in New Orleans, Louisiana, will be joining the conference. If you recall, Lousiana was part of the Lousiana Purchase, the watershed moment in American westward expansion. Except that the Big East is not expanding–they are merely doing that thing that pizzas do when they get cooked and nobody flattens it as to prevent a giant bubble. The pizza bubble looks cool, but it is terrible. Boo the Big East and their giant pizza bubble.

Just for good measure, as of July 1st, 2015, the Big “East” will feature Boise State, UCF, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, San Diego State, USF, SMU, Temple, Navy, ECU, Tulane. (Note that Notre Dame, Marquette, Georgetown, Providence, St. Johns, and Depaul are all still ballin' it up on the Big East hardwood–just not the football field.)
