It’s easy to forget sometimes, but being in attendance at a baseball game can be rather dangerous, even when it doesn’t seem like it. Tonight there was a very scary situation in the MLB in Pittsburgh, as a woman sitting behind home plate was drilled in the head by a foul ball during the Pirates-Cubs game.
There’s actually a net behind home plate in all parks, but it appears that this woman was unfortunately too close to the net while standing, and it gave just enough for her to get hit hard:

A scary moment here in the 2nd as a fan is hit with a foul ball. Our thoughts and prayers are with her tonight. — Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) April 21, 2015
The game was delayed for over twenty minutes as she was taken away from the field on a stretcher. There has been no official word on her condition, although a friend next to her did give a positive sign:
Woman hit in head with Castro’s foul ball taken from field. Appears to be conscious. Friend next to her gives thumbs up to crowd.

We really hope that she is okay.
