Splitting a bill gets a bad rap. And as a Dutchmen, I’m not particularly fond of the “going Dutch” expression anyway. It’s not like we are notoriously cheap peop–haha, I can’t even finish that one.
So it is with great excitement that I read Derek Jeter and Hannah Davis, two rich people, are fond of the practice.
Derek Jeter and his supermodel girlfriend Hannah Davis decided to enjoy their Italian vacation by going Dutch.
Jeter — who made hundreds of millions playing for the Yankees — and Davis — who pulls in about $5 million a year modeling — made out and ate pizza near the Spanish Steps in Rome. Then they asked to split the bill, each paying with their AmEx Black Cards (available to those who charge more than $250,000 per year!).
Huuuuuuuuuuuge story. If only Hannah’s horse was around to give context.
While this appeals to my sense of fairness, it does seem highly unnecessary. It’s not like the couple was indulging in thousands of dollars of pizza. But hey, when you need to rack up half a million in purchases, every little bit counts.
