Let’s See How Denny’s Did Live-Tweeting the USA-Germany Match

Goliath restaurant chain Denny’s was live-tweeting the USA-Germany match because increasing brand awareness never sleeps. Also, who doesn’t like to get their hungover breakfasts with a delicious side of hot sports takes?

Let’s take a look at how things went.

That was a pretty solid start, to be fair. Three hours ago we were very, very nervous about soccer. Nothing like a little bacon-related humor to grease the wheels. So far, so good, Denny’s social media person. If my three years at BroBible have taught me anything, it’s that Bros freaking love bacon.

“”””A score of zero is sometimes referred to as a goose egg, so this is a multilayered tweet. Not only does it tell you the score of the match — which is important — it subconciously makes the reader think of eggs. And guess what? Denny’s sells eggs. Who is running this account? The NBA Jam announcer needs to know who is heating up.

“”This was after Germany scored to take a 1-0 lead. They say humor can heal a nation. But this did little to dull the sting of possible elimination. In all honesty, Denny’s should not have brought pancakes into this. Pancakes never hurt anyone. The NBA Jam announcer won’t be needed after all.

Not sure what the rn means. You’ve lost a step, faceless tweeter. And finally, this happened. This is when the wheels came off.

OOF. Either Denny’s is trying to be un-American or no one on staff knows how the World Cup works. You see, the United States advanced by winning a tiebreaker over Portugal. If Americans gorging on ice cream right now, it is out of pure joy.

If you take a stroll through the restaurant’s mentions right now, people are not letting this error go. What catty behavior. Who would take an innocuous mistake and blow it way out of proportion? Only a monster, that’s who.

We can’t wait to see if Denny’s does better at #socialmedia the next time there’s a big water cooler event. Definitely something really important to keep an eye on.
