Cops arrest man for running football patterns on major highway

Uncle Rico is still living out his high school football dreams in southern New Jersey.

“How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?… Yeah… Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would’ve been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.” — Uncle Rico

A Florence Township, NJ man was arrested and charged over the holiday weekend after he appeared to be “running football pass patterns” in the middle of Route 130.  It was the second time police arrested and charged the guy with a crime that day.

David Jennings Jr., 37, was arrested and charged with drug possession Friday around 3:48 p.m. at the Nirdip Motel. He was charged and released with a court date, police said. But several hours later, at 7:34 p.m., police were back at the motel on a disturbance call to find Jennings swinging a baseball bat, hitting things and causing debris to fall into the road. Jennings then picked up a football and began throwing it into traffic, causing cars to swerve and slam on their brakes, police said.

Jennings then began to run football pass patterns on Route 130 when he was arrested by four officers, police said.

Jennings was taken to Burlington County jail with bail set at $1,000. He was also penalized fifteen yards because he threw to a GMC Acadia which did not report as an eligible receiver before the start of the play.
