Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick hosted Cartoon Network’s Hall of Games Awards because it’s the offseason and NFL players need a way to supplement their incomes. I didn’t watch, but can say it most certainly was an event on television.

What I do know is that the young quarterbacks’ attempt to show off their singing prowess fell a little flat. Each shared a rendition of Katy Perry’s “Roar,” occasionally finding notes close to the actual notes.

But the assembled children, God Bless them, cheered as if they’d both just thrown touchdown passes. Human beings are so wonderful before they discover cynicism.
