Some poor bastard working on CBS News’ social media team made a pretty hilarious mistake last night during the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Somehow the 140-character author confused future Hall of Fame baseball player Derek Jeter with noted supporting actor Michael Jeter, who died in 2003.
You remember that guy. He was in the Green Mile and Evening Shade. Little fellow. Glasses.
Almost immediately, the gaffe became the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter.
Michael Jeter was truly the Derek Jordan of baseball.

I personally can’t wait until Michael Jeter is gone from baseball for good! pic.twitter.com/Su9woSxyVD — David Bolling (@davidbolling22) July 16, 2014
Never change, @Wikipedia. Michael Jeter’s page has been updated to include #MLBAllStarGame2014 pic.twitter.com/TgA7gagn4u
A major tie to my childhood is over the second #MichaelJeter retires.

Alright, so it spawned some good laughs. Accidents happen and we all had fun.
The only person disappointed by this snafu? This guy. Always a bridesmaid and never an honorary All-Star.
