There have been numerous complaints about the safety of the slopestyle course in Sochi. Yuki Tsubota would probably voice one, but it’s hard to speak with a broken jaw.
During her final run Tuesday morning, the Canadian landed awkwardly and suffered what appeared to be an intensely painful collision with the ground. One of her skis flew off spectacularly and her head bounced around like a rag doll.
She had to be removed from the course via stretcher.
Tough way for an Olympic dream to die.
