Cam Newton Wins Heisman, Thanks Parents For Doing Things ‘Behind the Scenes That Go Unnoticed’

To the surprise of no one, Cam Newton was awarded the 2010 Heisman Trophy over Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, Oregon running back LaMichael James, and Boise State quarterback Kellan Moore. The Auburn QB received 729 first-place votes, nearly ninety-three percent of ballots returned. Pretty much a landslide. He's the third Auburn player to win the award. Two interesting quotes from his awkward acceptance speech: "This isn't an award that was won this year. This is an award that was won since I came out of your womb" and "My parents do a lot of things behind the scenes that go unnoticed." Really?! Umm... My parents do a lot of things behind the scenes that go unnoticed, and this is not an award that in my opinion has been won by my play this year. This is an award that was won when I came out your womb. Thank you for everything you did for me.

Honestly from the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving me the chance. Thank you for everything that you’ve done. Coach Chizik, coach Malzahn, coach Troop.
