Somehow, some way the 3-9 Carolina Panthers are beating the 11-1 Atlanta Falcons as the third quarter comes to a close. For any Panthers fans out there (like me, unfortunately) this game has been one of the only bright spots in a very dark and depressing season.
But hey, we've got Cam Newton, baby! He's thrown for 201 yards and a touchdown, and he's showing an accuracy that I think was stored on his mantle over the offseason with his Offensive Rookie of the Year trophy.
It's his rushing game, though, that should lead the highlights on SportsCenter tomorrow. With 11:13 left in the third quarter, Newton broke off a 72-yard TD run that he punctuated with a front-flip into the end zone. It caused Gus Johnson to have a mild heart attack. And it ruled.
