Bryce Harper fell victim to his own youthful exuberance yesterday. In the process of going 0-for-5 and striking out three times, the Washington Nationals rookie whacked a brick wall with his bat in frustration. As it turns out, that might be the one baseball-related thing he’s not good at.

The barrel rocketed back and hit him near the left eye, opening up a gash and causing him to bleed all over the plate. He took his last at-bat with a noticeable injury oozing blood, which would be awesome if it weren’t begat by stupidity.

The wound required 10 stiches and Harper is expected to miss a couple of games.
