I’m not in the cow-naming game, so I don’t know how difficult it is to name bovine. I’d imagine you want a moniker that’s cute but not too cute. After all, the little guy’s going to eventually be grilled.
But in this instance, the whole process seems like it was a no-brainer.

The folks at Vale Wood Farms in Loretto have named a calf “Baby Ben” after the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback because the cow has a number “7” on his head.
Yup. Extremely easy decision.
This is, without a doubt, the best cow I’ve ever seen. He’s a like a living tribute to Mickey Mantle — just what George Constanza always wanted.
I need a dog with a 7 on its head stat. I can’t imagine ever looking at that face and not being filled with happiness.
