Everyone take note, this is how you butcher our national anthem. During today’s Memorial Cup, Alexis Normand (a Canadian folk and jazz singer) valiantly pushed through the song despite fumbling and bumbling most of the words. It’s painful. It ventures into Carl Lewis territory.
Normand clearly embarrassed about her flub issued an apology on Twitter.
I’m embarrassed and deeply sorry. I wish I’d had more time to learn the American anthem. Thanks so much for the crowd’s help! #memorialcup

Thankfully this occurred in Canada, otherwise this may have caused an international incident.
