Aaron Hernandez’s Lawyer Dropped A DeflateGate Joke In Court, It Didn’t Go So Great

The Aaron Hernandez trial is off and running and getting even more attention now that the New England Patriots have wrapped up the Super Bowl. So even more people got to enjoy the comedic stylings of defense attorney James Sultan yesterday.

While questioning a state police trooper about tire pressure, the attorney could not resist the urge to make a timely DeflateGate joke.

Ouch. Tough room.

One person who was not a fan of the attempted humor was judge Susan Garsh, who let it known a murder trial is no place for a person to work out the kinks in their stand-up routine.

As someone who once served as an alternate on the world’s lamest trial, I do think courtrooms should take a lesson from comedy clubs and institute a two-drink minimum. Could loosen everybody up a bit, maybe make things more interesting and lead to more hilarious slip-ups by witnesses.

Kinda stupid not to do when you really think about it.
