The MLB has announced the AL and NL squads for the league's 83rd All-Star game, which will be held on July 10th at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
While the gravity of the Midsummer classic has been hotly debated--especially over the past decade--the honor of being considered among the league's best has always been a vital barometer in determining player legacies and HOF potential. The rosters for this year feature quite a lot of Rangers, Yankees, and Giants. Among those not appearing on this list include free-agent mega-man Albert Pujols, whose horrendous start was apparently too much to overcome. This is the second straight year Pujols, considered by many the league's best player on this side of the year 2000, has failed to make the All-Star Game.
Below are the rosters. Note that the "final selection" of the 34-men rosters will be chosen exclusively by fans. Mainstay Chipper Jones and clown-question deflector Bryce Harper are both final selection candidates for the National League. Should be very interesting to see how that particular battle plays out.
