Check Out Chad Ochocinco’s Gold-plated Beats By Dre
Pictures surfaced today of Chad Ochocinco's custom gold-plated Beats By Dre headphones, made by Los Angeles-based jeweler-to-the-stars Ben Baller. What started off as a stock pair of Beats' 'Studio' model, turned into 500 grams worth of gold-plating, custom soldering and engraving. Doing some quick addition here, a stock pair of the headphones weighs in at 9 oz. and the finished product weighs over a pound, totaling about $15,000 worth of gold. We can't begin to speculate what's on Ochocinco's iPod, but for that price it better be good.
If you're looking for some sick Beats headphones minus Ochocinco's bling, we took the BeatsPro Headphones for a spin a couple of weeks ago at Quad Studios in NYC during a comparison test. The BeatsPro are designed to bring the emotion of music back into the listening experience, emulating how music sounds as its produced in the studio. First, the comparison was headphones vs headphones and the BeatsPro was a clear winner. They then stepped it up and it was headphones vs Rodney Jerkins.... in the studio. We left knowing they're worth the investment.
