We love frat rap and electronica around here. We really do. But, that said, a Bro can't always be listening to the likes of Mac Miller and Avicii all day long without crossing over into "toolbag" territory. Life is about mixing it up evey now and then. At the same time, there's a lot of weird music out there that hipsters eat up, but a bro just can't understand, mostly because its just strange and intolerable to listen to. Ever have a hipster buddy show you a track and you ask him if his speakers are broken? Awkward when then aren't and now he is insulted. Don't worry, there is good news on the "indie" front these days, with plenty of bands that rock hard without the obnoxious hipster fanbase. The following are five songs that you may not immediately recognize, but hey, that doesn't mean they aren't Bro. Take a listen.

"Junk of the Heart" by The Kooks
To start, we have the Kooks, who just recently released a new album and are on tour this fall in the US. Most of us know The Kooks, but they've been off the radar for a while. The new album, "Junk of the Heart," is really good. It gives us a combination of catchy melodies and that old Kooks acoustic guitar, relaxed rock sounds that is so familiar. Here is the self-titled single that's on their self-titled record. Download: Here

"Blood Pressure" by MuteMath
Mute Math was a big hit last year with their song "Electrify" then they faded out for a while to make this sick new album that is loaded with great tracks. "Blood Pressure" was one of the singles. The album is out now and the band is on tour for the rest of the month to introduce "ODD SOUL," their new album. Check out their website for an interesting music video remix format they've created for fans.

"A Nervous Tic Motion" by Andrew Bird
Yes, Andrew Bird is a classically trained violin player. He also whistles like a god. This track's melody will haunt you for the rest of your day. Bird frequents the festivals such as he is here, at Bonaroo a few years ago. Hey look, up in the front row, at the beginning of the video we have a few curious Bros in attendance. Download: Here

"The Sun" by Portugal the Man
Here is a band that is difficult to describe. Their sound tends to have some "Jam Band" aspects to it and then it will have an electronic, pop vibe. Never the less, these guys keep it interesting. Same goes for this video for "The Sun" - it shows you the life of a homeless sheep-man. Get past the weirdness of this concept and its a pretty funny video. Download: Here

"Colours" by GROUPLOVE
Here is an Edward Sharpe-esque, rag tag, group of dudes and one chick that has been growing in popularity over the last year. Their single "Colours" is very different and very catchy - it was released on their EP earlier this year. As of one month ago, their whole album is out and they are out on tour all year, almost non stop. Grouplove looks like they will be a heavy hitting indie band for years to come. Oh yeah, and Xaphoon Jones does a sick remix, which you can listen to Here Download: Here
