Rapper Earl Sweatshirt Says Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ Music Video Might Be Racist

The Internet was quick to laugh at Taylor Swift’s new music video/single “Shake it Off” when it debuted yesterday. David didn’t like it. But I liked it. So does Brandon Cohen, who wrote a tremendous piece about hanging out with Taylor and having a pizza dance party after winning her “Hang out with Taylor” contest.

22-year-old Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt, though, wasn’t a fan, claiming Swift might be unintentionally perpetuating “black stereotypes” to the most basic of basic Starbucks-sipping, Ugg-boot wearing white girls.

Personally, I don’t see Earl’s point at all – She explores a number of different dance and music styles that aren’t exactly exclusive to one particular race. Seems like a pretty trite thing to get upset about. On top of that, he even admits he didn’t even watch it before tweeting such a reaction.

But what do you think? Watch for yourself:

Shake it off, Taylor. Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate…
