Some people start their day with Al Roker and the Today Show. Others, Good Morning America. My morning isn't complete until I watch Canada's greatest gift to the city of New York, Pat Kiernan, give his quirky take on the news around Gotham and the rest of the world. It's the best thing about being a Time Warner Cable customer. He reads the newspapers for me in the morning, seeding blog ideas well before my second cup of coffee. New York transplant/Philly sports fan Jamie Shupak is bar-none one of the most charismatic traffic reporters in the country. Ladies dig her "frizz reports" on the days New York feels like a swamp. Much to the attention of my girlfriend, the workplace flirting between her and Pat has calmed down over the last year. Don't think it hasn't gone unnoticed! Business reporter Annika Pergament has a no-bullshit approach to her super short, super quick Wall Street updates, but clearly knows how to let her hair down (on her birthday, she came close to answering a phone call from a friend mid-report. It was awesome). Tech reporter Adam Balkin went to Penn State, wiggling a few mentions of his days in Happy Valley into his tech minute update. Plus... WEATHER ON THE ONES!
What's not to love?
For the unfamiliar, on-the-scene reporter Roger Clark is the jester in this jolly band of rogue, morning news misfits. To celebrate Canada day (... which OF COURSE Pat made a big deal about), Roger presented the anchor with a ballsy air guitar solo from Rush's "Tom Sawyer." Reporting live from a LES bar, it was nothing short of epic.
If you don't live in New York or happen to be a Verizon/Cablevision customer, this is something you'll never understand. That's just so Rodger...
