Look, the only thing worth talking about this morning is Miley Cyrus's disturbing VMA twerk-fest last night, in which she humped teddy bears, felt herself up with a big foam finger, and twerked all over Robin Thicke in a Beatlejuice costume. Remember when Miley Cyrus was innocent Disney starlet Hannah Montana? Goodbye, innocence. If you haven't watched it, it's bound to dominate water cooler discussion at some point during your work day.
Fresh off a vacation, Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski was back on-set today and quickly expressed some very harsh oppinions on Miley Cyrus's VMA performance, saying Miley is "obviously deeply troubled, deeply disturbed, clearly has confidence issues," and "probably" has an eating disorder. It's a strong take filled with real-talk, accusing the singer of more or less suffering mental health issues and terrible parenting. Brzezinski's utter disgust conveys what I think many of us would call a normal reaction to Cyrus's antics this morning. Here's the rant:
“I think that was really, really disturbing. That young lady, who is 20, is obviously deeply troubled, deeply disturbed, clearly has confidence issues, probably eating disorder and I don’t think anybody should have put her on stage. That was disgusting and embarrassing … That was not attractive. That was not fun. That was not funny. That was really, really bad for anybody who’s younger and impressionable and she’s really messed up … The whole thing was cringe worthy but I feel bad for her. She is a mess. Someone needs to take care of her. Someone needs not to put her on stage and make a complete fool of herself.” — MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski
This tongue is giving a lot of people nightmares today. Especially fathers of daughters:
