Pack up Hologram Tupac: Next year's Coachella will be the festival's last in Indio, California, according to Paul Tollett, the president of promoter company Goldenvoice.
No new city has been announced for the 2014 festival.
The move came because of an $18-per-ticket tax increase the town of Indio attempted to levy on Coachella. The Coachella brass decided they couldn't justify keeping the festival in Indio with the huge tax increase:
Goldenvoice VP Skip Paige told [Indio City Councilman Sam] Torres in a text that the decision to move was a done deal.
“You know were moving right? All this is a game. Why in the world would we stay where we are not wanted. LQ doesn't want us, Indio wants to take all our profits. Its a joke.
“We made the decision to move out of indio the day we got our 2 year permit."
Coachella has been in Indio for 13 years, and it's uncertain where the festival will move to now. Do you live in California and think your town could handle the giant music festival for two weekends?
