I rarely eat cereal, but if you cover a Nutella-coated banana on a stick with little pieces of deliciousness, you have my undivided attention. That’s what you get with these amazing Nutella Cereal Pops.
Be prepared to get messy. Using a brush is the best way to spread Nutella on a banana, but I didn’t know that at the time. I tried rolling them…fail. I tried dipping them…fail. I ended up spreading it on with a knife and adjusting it by hand. The downside is your fingers are going to be covered in hazelnut spread. The upside is your fingers are going to be covered in hazelnut spread.
This is the best use of tiny cereal boxes since their inception. There’s nothing like a little variety in every bowl… or banana in this case. There was even a box of Cocoa Krispies in the mix, but as you can imagine, they didn’t exactly stand out.
I’ve always wanted an excuse to use the perforated doors on the front of the mini boxes, and finally I had one. Sure, it was just for the sake of pictures, but it takes very little to make me happy.
Make your life easier by painting a banana with Nutella and immediately applying the cereal before setting it down. These picture are from my first attempt when I really blew it. As any reasonable person could have predicted, the covered ‘nanas stuck to the cutting board
Wax paper is also a much better alternative to hard plastic when it comes time to remove them from the freezer.
Like with any good thing, patience is a virtue. While you could certainly eat these immediately, how often are you this close to making banana popsicles? Do yourself a favor and put these in the freezer for a couple hours. Trust me; it’s worth it.
