How to make Churro Pancakes

Colin Joliat

The fake holiday people can’t agree, so there are two National Pancake Days every year. I’m not complaining. In fact, I made some ridiculous Churro Pancakes to celebrate. Before you ask, no, this is not related to National Hispanic Heritage Month. Feel free to use that as an excuse to cook these if it makes you feel better though.

This might be the most simple creation I’ve made for the Guyism Grill. It only involves four ingredients. That’s even fewer than the Ultimate Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich. If you can cook batter without burning it, you can make these Churro Pancakes in a matter of minutes. Feel free to use some fancy secret family pancake recipe that has been passed down for generations after being taken out of the newspaper if you want, but I went the zero labor route, and it was magnificent. How could I pass on a box as comically named as Krusteaz?

It really is that simple. If your skillet is big enough or you have a griddle, cooking multiple pancakes at once is obviously ideal to ensure they’re hot. I only opted to do one at a time for the sake of professional grade photograph. What can I say, I’m a fauxfectionist.

If I was a daring man, I would skip the instructions altogether and have faith that you can make these from pictures. That’s not happening though. I’d hate to deprive you of such simplistic goodness just to save a few words. The recipe came from Sweet Treats More. Apparently they excel at big fluffy pancakes while mine are all business.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup Pancake Mix
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • Butter, soft

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl and set aside.
  2. Mix pancake mix and water until well combined but slightly lumpy.
  3. Cook pancakes on a lightly greased hot griddle.
  4. Immediately spread butter on each side of the pancake, then dip each pancake into the cinnamon-sugar mixture coating each side well.
  5. Eat. Repeat.
