iGrill lets you cook to perfection and roam the tailgate

Tailgate season is upon us, which usually means someone is stuck tending the grill all day. The iGrill, a Bluetooth meat thermometer, can cut the chains for you though.

Just because you’re in charge of the grill doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your own tailgate. After all, that’s the whole point, right? The iGrill is a digital meat thermometer that capable of sending temperature data right to your phone via Bluetooth. This means you’re free to roam the crowd glad-handing all the wonderful people who came to mooch off your free food and beer.

If you’re just grilling hot dogs, you really shouldn’t be using a meat thermometer. Also, grow up. The iGrill really comes in handy though when you’re cooking something more substantial. If you’re low and slowing a pork shoulder or trying to cook the perfect beer can chicken, it’s nice to be able to monitor the progress without having to constantly check under the hood.

Two separate temperature probes, which can be used at the same time, attach to the base unit. The large digital readout works perfectly fine for run-by monitoring, but the real beauty lies in the Bluetooth connectivity to an app on your phone. The app, contrary to what the “i” in iGrill would lead you to believe, is available for both Apple and Android devices, and it tells you everything you need to know about what’s happening on the grill. You can set timers, see the internal and/or ambient temperatures, check out a graph of the progress, and even set an alarm to go off when your meat is in the kill zone. Now you have no excuse for overcooking food…which I suppose could be a bad thing.

The iGrill is $80, which is a bit steep if you host one cookout a year but well worth it if you’re trying to be the grillmaster. I checked the website, and you can get 10% if you pin their page on Pinterest, which I assume none of you use.
