Florida man arrested for stealing $75,000 of soup

I don’t know the resale value of soup, but a Florida man is probably regretting trying to steal $75,000 worth of chicken noodle.

It was a job just like any other. A stranger named Pepe introduced himself and asked Eusebio Diaz Acosta to drive his tractor trailer for him. Money is tight, so of course Diaz Acosta said yes. What could possibly go wrong? Sure, it was strange that the alleged owner of the truck was riding shotgun, but maybe he was just too lazy to drive. And yes, there isn’t a single instance of a reasonable person being named Pepe, but we’ve all been taught not to judge a book by it’s stupid cover.

Unfortunately for Diaz Acosta, it turned out that the trailer contained $75,000 worth of stolen soup. I don’t know why anyone would want that, but there is a lot about Pepe that’s a mystery. When the truck was stopped by police, he took off and left Diaz Acosta holding the spoon. Diaz Acosta was charged with larceny from shipment and vehicle theft. Hopefully he’ll think twice next time a strange man asks him to get in the truck.
