They say that life needs balance. Earlier this year Burger King introduced new healthy items like salads and real fruit smoothies. Now they’ve rolled out the yin to that yang in the form of a bacon sundae.
Fast food keeps on getting more ridiculous, and I’m loving every minute of it. From something as obvious as the Doritos Locos Taco to a WTF moment when you first heard about the Hot Dog Stuffed Crust Pizza, there is no shortage of chefs doing drugs. Burger King teased/tested the bacon sundae in April, but it’s finally hit restaurants nationwide as part of their limited time summer menu. It’s comprised of vanilla soft-serve, fudge, caramel, crumbled bacon and garnished for obvious reasons with a full strip of bacon. Be sure not to eat anything else that day because it comes it at 510 calories, 18 grams of fat and 61 grams of sugar. Once you factor in your Double Whopper, large fries, and Diet Dr. Pepper/Cherry Coke you’ll easily be at your daily limit.
That isn’t the only thing on the new summer menu though. The BK Lounge is rolling out a new slate of regional BBQ Whoppers and even a pulled pork sandwich. Want fries with that? Of course you do. Don’t stick with their sub-par normal potato sticks though, try the new sweet potato fries.

Texas BBQ WHOPPER® (or Chicken) Sandwich ~ A four ounce fire-grilled burger patty made with USDA certified ground beef, thick American cheese, jalapeño slices, crisp red onion rings, ripe tomato slices and fresh cut iceberg lettuce, all topped with Bull’s-Eye Texas Style BBQ sauce on a sesame seed bun. (Chicken comes on artisan-style bun)
I don’t find myself going to Burger King all that often, but it seems like I’ll have to for the sake of research. I’ve had bacon in cupcakes, steaks, and beer, so why not in a sundae?
