Nothing girly about Blackberry Mint Margaritas

Colin Joliat

Real men wear pink and drink purple. OK, so maybe that’s not true, but this is one purple drank that’s worth making. The Blackberry Mint Margarita is a great excuse to drink tequila while using up the leftover mint from Derby Day.

Ingredients:
1.5 oz tequila
1 oz fresh lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
8 blackberries
10 fresh mint leaves

Method:
Muddle 6 blackberries and mint with simple syrup in shaker. Allow mixture to sit as long as patience allows. Add tequila, lime, and fill 2/3 with ice. Shake, shake, shake, señora. Strain into glass (ideally margarita glass, but I don’t own any). Garnish with final two blackberries. Drink. Repeat.

Don’t be scared because the drink may look girly, blackberries are the second most manly fruit beyond dragonfruit. And unless you’re best friends with Daenerys Targaryen, you probably don’t have any dragons lying around to make you a snack. Plus, what else are you going to do with all of that leftover mint from this weekend’s juleps?
