Budweiser Brazil really wants you to be friends with people you meet in a bar. Their new pint glass, dubbed “The Buddy Cup,” links your Facebook page with whomever you clink glasses with when you toast. This seems like a terrible idea. While my Facebook profile is public, people I don’t know are public subscribers, not friends. They don’t need to see the trivial blather meant only for actual friends. They just want the funny stuff.
The one situation this could be pretty cool would be small house parties. You’re likely to leave as friends with anyone you meet, so you might as well get the awkward “who initiates Facebook friendship first” ordeal out of the way.
