Would you believe me if I told you that the Long Island Ice Tea was invented as part challenge to use Triple Sec in a drink? Well, if Bob Butt is to be believed, which he is, that’s exactly how the cocktail came to be.
I haven’t seen anything from PBS other than remixes lately, but I’m all ears if they want to profile cocktail inventors. I typically assume all drinks are age old recipes, the origins of which have long been lost to bar fires. In this case it turned out that a bartender just wanted to put all the clear liquors into a glass. Now that’s a mixologist!
