flyingskwirl

It’s yet another fake drinking holiday, so break out the shaker and celebrate National Rum Day! We’ve compiled four recipes – two drinks you’ve never had, one giant punch, and a old standby cocktail. If you consider rum and ice to be a cocktail, you can check out a few of those as well.

4. Brugal Dehumidifier

Brugal

2 oz Brugal Extra Dry Rum
1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
3 dashes Angostura bitters
5 mint leaves
Club soda

Combine all ingredients except bitters and club soda, and shake with ice. Pour into a collins glass, top with club soda and float 3 dashes of bitters. Garnish with a mint sprig.

3. Deck Hand Daiquiri

Shellback

2 ounces Shellback Silver rum
1 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce simple syrup
Fresh, seasonal fruits and berries

In a shaker muddle fresh fruits with the simple syrup, add fresh lime juice and Shellback Silver rum; shake with ice until well blended. Double strain into a chilled cocktail coup. Garnish with a thin slice of lime and fruit of your choice.
