In another life, I was a young and hungry newspaper reporter. It was an indescribable mix of excitement and crushing depression as the industry slowly died. Every day was a reminder of just how big a role news-gathers play in our lives. It’s a difficult concept to illustrate, but this commercial from The Guardian, a British daily, does it perfectly. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more imaginative way to sell the idea that newspapers still matter.
