Yesterday, Senator Rand Paul filibustered the confirmation of CIA nominee John Brennan the old-fashioned way—by talking on the Senate floor for as long as he could hold up. His 13-hour "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"-style speech, which focused on ways the government has curtailed our civil liberties in the name of fighting terror, has been applauded today by guys on both sides of the aisle. Why? Well, it turns out there are many people out there who believe the president shouldn't be able to indiscriminately bomb U.S. citizens. Who knew.

For all of Paul's inspiring words and adeptness with a catheter, though, many, many political observers today are talking about Senator Marco Rubio, who talked briefly last night in Paul's place. Rubio is a rising star in the Republican party. He's also a known hip-hop head. And last night, when he ran out of things to say, he dug deep from his rap subconscious. Meaning?
