Jim Lehrer got a lot of crap for his job moderating the debate last night (the peanut gallery of Twitter was particuarly rough), but we think it's time to give the guy a break. Think of Lehrer like a replacement ref, someone who was tasked with the unenviable position of trying to rein in two alpha males who couldn't have cared less about the rules of the game or what he had to say. I got a strong "John Fox yelling at an official" vibe from the two candidates during the 90 minutes.

All of that being said, here's 50 seconds of Lehrer stuttering and just getting absolutely steamrolled by Mitt Romney last night.

That resigned eye close, those hands up in desperation—that's the look of a guy thinking about the glass of port and reruns of "Masterpiece Theatre" that await him at home.
