Buried in the headlines of football and football and more football last week, we missed this gossip page item about A-Rod's new, very expensive, A-Rod-esque South Beach digs. Earlier this year he bought a $6 million river-view condo on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Can you blame him for putting another property in the mix? He's made at least $20 million every year since 2001, so clearly he's not hurting for money. Someday -- or at least until he gets bored and flips it -- we imagine this 24-million waterfront palace will be his retirement farm somewhere down the road. I'm kind of unimpressed by it. Quite honestly, I've seen mini-malls and Howard Johnson's with a better architectural layout than this heap of expensive concrete. But, hey, if nothing else, it gives him more wallspace for commissioned centaur paintings.
