  • No longer content with publishing magazines, opening Vegas night clubs, or hosting parties at The Mansion, Playboy's looking to step it's game up by expanding its business to the final frontier. With the help of former NASA scientist Stan Kent and futurist Thomas Frey from the Davini Institute, Playboy writers A.J. Baime & Jason Harper published five illustrations of what a completely hypothetical intergalactic Playboy Club would look like. Given the world's current economic climate, the whole PR stunt seems outrageously out of this world (I know... sorry), but we're just as curious about the "human roulette wheel," nightclub "with trampolines on the walls and bunneys with jet packs" and "pleasure orbitial domes" as you are. Via Playboy:

The space station involves a classic wheel shaped design that would include a restaurant with wide windows so diners can soak in the out-of-this-world views. It would be attached to the spinning part of the station to induce the gravity that will keep dinner on everyone's plates.

Entertainment includes a casino where visitors play roulette -- in which people are the ball, zero gravity bungee jumping (not sure how that would work), a windowless zero gravity dance club and a private "orbital pleasure dome."

Yep, those "PODs" are a fancy sci-fi way for Playb*y to say bone zone. Sure, this is going to cost 100+ bazillion dollars -- probably more -- to undertake, but Playb*y's insistant it's a real thing. In a statement, Playb*y editorial director Jimmy Jellinek said “As Virgin Galactic gets closer to becoming the world’s first commercial space line, Playb*y is eagerly pondering the creation of the ultimate intergalactic entertainment destination. This heaven-in-the-heavens will exceed starry-eyed travelers’ wildest dreams, and guests will truly experience a party that’s out of this world." Will Hef still be able to handle a trip to his cosmic club in 2025? And, as Geekologie wonders, how much cialis will they have to inject into the water system for everyone to get it "up" in a zero gravity environment? Make it happen and we'll throw a bachelor party there, Playb*y.

Pictures of the space station on the next few slides.
