Last year, Great Britain hosted the Royal Wedding, an event that was supposed to dominate the papers for weeks to come. The United States killed Osama bin Laden the same weekend. This year, Great Britain again set out to be the talk of the world with its London-based Olympic games. A few days ago, the U.S. landed a car on Mars. 

We obviously just can't be contained by our own awesomeness, constantly making us one-up other countries. The One-Up America meme hilariously illustrates that.
