‘Mile-Long Pizza’ Sets New Guinness World Record For ‘Longest Pizza’ — 1.5 Tons Of Mozzarella

A new Guinness World Record was set last Saturday in Italy after 60 pizza makers came together to make the mile-long pizza. The making of this gargantuan ‘za was streamed live on Periscope, though sadly I wasn’t aware at the time. The ingredients that went into making the mile-long pizza (1.59545 kilometers) include 1.5 tons of mozzarella, 2 tons of tomato sauce, and 1.7 tons of flour.

Here’s some pics of this ridiculous pizza:

I have to admit that I’m slightly shocked this new Guinness World Record was set in Italy and not New York, as we all know the Big Apple is hope to the best pizza on Planet Earth. Sure, pizza was invented in Naples but NYC has been the worldwide capital for pizza for nearly a century, and New Yorkers hate being second at anything. I suspect that the Pizza Guild of Gotham already has plans in the works to overthrow this record.

MyFoxBoston confirmed that this pizza is officially in the Guinness World Records Book for ‘World’s Longest Pizza’ after the 1.59545 kilometer pie in Italy bested the previous record of 1.1415-kilometers baked in Spain.
