VIDEO: DC Metro Escalator Causes an Avalanche of People When Brakes Stop Working

Last time I visited friends in DC, a buddy greeted me at a NoVA Metro Station and warned me to take the stairs rather than the escalator. Even though he was dead serious, but I just laughed the comment off, told him to stop bullshitting me, and demanded to immediately stock up on Busch Light suitcases and cheap tins of Skoal for the night's activities. After seeing this surveillance video footage from a mishap at the L'Enfant Plaza Metro Station in October, I'm not f*cking around with DC Metro escalators. The brakes fail on a downhill escalator after the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert "Rally for Change" on the National Mall, basically making it rain people into a giant dogpile. Frightening stuff. According to reports, four people were injured as a result of the malfunction. Watch the video below. Things really start to speed up around the 30-second mark.
