Survey Lists The Most Popular Beer And Liquor For Each U.S. State And Now I Want To Get Drunk

My mother taught me at a very young age to never trust anyone who doesn’t drink. She was shitfaced off a Smirnoff and Clamato juice at the time. But it’s helped me realize that you can learn a lot from someone by what type of alcohol they prefer. For example, if you bring a sixer of Blue Moon to my keg party, I’ll probably actively avoid you in favor of the people actually willing to turn up. Or if you bring a rack of Natty Ice to any occasion outside of college, I will likely ask you if you have cocaine.

An drinking social app called BARTRENDr did God’s work and aggregated data on the most popular beer and liquor brands by state by surveying its 700,000 users. The results: America loves Bud Light and whiskey. 33 states named Bud Light its favorite beer and 42 states chose a whiskey brand as it’s top liquor. Utah cam out of left field with Polygamy Nitro Porter for it’s beer of choice. Go home, Utah. You’re sober.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
