7-Year-Old Star Wars Fan Thinks It’s Crap That Jedis Can’t Married, Writes Letter To George Lucas And Gets Great Response

Meet Colin Gilpatric, a 7-year-old Jedi in training that wants to pledge himself to the light side of the Force, but there’s one sticking point from him making his commitment, marriage. See Jedi are forbidden to marry because they considered attachment to be dangerous. Jedis are so wise. So instead of being wed in secrecy like Anakin Skywalker, Colin asked the main man, George Lucas, about changing the rule.

His letter states:

Dear George Lucas,

I don’t like that a Jedi cannot get married. I want to get married without becoming a Sith. Please change the rule.

P.S. I want to come to Skywalker Ranch please.

Love Colin

Well Lucasfilm awesomely responded to Colin’s request.

Hello Colin,

Thank you so much for writing to us with your question. It sounds like the Force is strong with you, and you are showing great wisdom by asking your question. To be a Jedi is to truly know the value of friendship, of compassion, and of loyalty, and these are values important in a marriage. The Sith think inward, only of themselves. When you find someone that you can connect to in a selfless way, then you are on the path of the light, and the dark side will not take hold of you. With this goodness in your heart, you can be married.

We enclosed a few gifts that we hope you enjoy. Thank you again for writing to us.

May the Force Be With You!

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Lucasfilm

While he didn’t get a trip to Skywalker Ranch, he did get a shitload of swag.

You’re only 7-years-old, why are you trying to get locked down already? Patience you must have my young Padawan. There’s plenty of time to get married. But kid, if you get too immersed in the Star Wars culture, you really won’t need to worry about that whole marriage thing or even a girlfriend for that matter.
