According to a recent study, screwing with a smartphone can result in a feeling similar to a hangover the next morning. The study also showed that trying to do just a little more work on your cell phone before bed leads to doing less work when you wake up the next day.
The study, which surveyed a broad spectrum of US workers, discovered that people who monitored their smart phones for business purposes after 9pm were more tired and less engaged the following day. “Smartphones are almost perfectly designed to disrupt sleep,” said Russell Johnson, MSU assistant professor of management. “Because they keep us mentally engaged late into the evening, they make it hard to detach from work so we can relax and fall asleep. ”
Doesn’t it feel like cell phones will soon be the number one cause of death, sickness or injury in America? Maybe the real cure is to stop funding all these new studies.
