There really is no rule or law stating you MUST be friends with your relatives on Facebook but we all do it because it's easier than not being friends with your lunatic uncle or the half-cousin you only met once — ironically during the arraignment of your lunatic uncle.
Facebook seems to be the hot spot where your jerk relatives really let their freak flags fly — each new status update, uncomfortable family photo and less than sane opinion have you constantly contemplating not only unfriending the entire clan but legally changing your last name.
