Meet The Two Lucky Suckers Getting Paid To Travel Across The Country

Imagine getting paid to road trip for an entire summer. For two lucky people, that epic summer road trip is happening right now thanks to an awesome wine company and one of the biggest acts in music.

The Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. is a collaboration between the Grammy Award-winning band Train and winemaker James Foster. The minds behind the wine were inspired to work together after realizing they shared a love of storytelling and a passion for adventure. Named after the band’s fifth album, the goal of Save Me, San Francisco was simple — it was about exploring creative and interesting things together, spending time with old friends and creating new friends.

That’s exactly why the wine company decided to hold a contest to find two “storytellers” to travel across the country on an epic summer road trip. In March, two lucky souls were chosen from a nationwide casting call, through which prospective ambassadors were tasked with demonstrating their passion for wine, music, food and art, and selected based on how well they embodied the brand personality. They were awarded a salary and promptly hit the road for the adventure of a lifetime, making the journey from San Francisco to New York City in a classic vintage Cadillac DeVille.

The two winners, Eric Brown and Paulette Maxwell, traveled from San Fran to NYC and had some amazing life experiences along the way. They caught the 4th of July fireworks show at the Navy Pier in Chicago, watched the RedBull games in Austin, visited the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Ohio and chowed down on crab cakes in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.

“I can definitely say my expectations of this journey were beyond met,” explained Paulette. “I took this job knowing that I was in for a journey that would involve the two things that I love: music and good wine, and that’s what I’m getting.”

Eric said, “As a Sommelier, wine is a passion of mine. I’m constantly finding ways to immerse myself in experiences to feed this passion, so when I heard that Save Me, San Francisco Wine Co. was holding a nationwide job search for two brand ambassadors I had to sign up. It has been an experience of a lifetime.”
