Police Searching For Santa Claus Who Stole A Helicopter Because Sleighs Are For Losers

Police are searching for a man dressed as Santa Claus who rented a helicopter to usher in the Christmas shopping season and ended up skyjacking it. Jolly ol’ St. Nick forced the pilot to fly to a remote field where they met a third individual, the two then tied up the pilot and left him for died and proceeded to fly off into the Sun in their shiny new helicopter. If this all sounds too crazy to be real I assure you it totally happened and there is indeed a Santa Claus on the loose with a stolen whirlybird.

Reuters reports:

Brazilian police are hunting for a Sao Paulo Santa Claus who kicked off the Christmas shopping season by stealing a helicopter.
The thief rented the aircraft late Friday from an air taxi service at the Campo Marte airport in Sao Paulo for a Black Friday “surprise,” the Sao Paulo state security secretariat said on Saturday.
During the flight, the Santa forced the pilot to fly to a small farm outside of Sao Paulo city, where they were met by a third person, the secretariat said.
The pilot was tied up and the two perpetrators flew away.
After several hours, the pilot managed to escape and alert police. There has been no sign of the helicopter, a Robinson model 44, authorities said.

You can get a used helicopter for a few hundred grand (and a few thousand/year in maintenance). So it’s not like this was a billion dollar heist, but the fact that the person was dressed as Santa Claus and managed to fly off into Never Never Land in his new helicopter makes it the perfect Christmas story. One can only hope that this December 25th the boys and girls of Brazil will have presents rained down upon them from Santa Claus high above in his helicopter.
