
So... If you turned off your TV and went to sleep last night after Bruins captain Zdeno Chara hoisted the Cup, you missed, like, 30% of the fun when pandemonium broke out on the streets of Vancouver. All hell broke lose as an angry mob of Canucks fans made fools out of themselves by smashing storefront windows, destroying cars and setting them on fire, and looting in broad daylight. Sore losers? Yeah. Big Time. Almost sickening, really. And, despite efforts from law enforcement to calm the vandals down, things got kinda out of control. Via the Vancouver Sun:
Smoke and pepper spray mingled, making it difficult to breathe in some areas of the downtown core. Plumes of smoke rising above the city are visible from as far away as East Vancouver Rocks and bricks were thrown at police in riot gear who at about 9 p.m. were in a standoff at a number of chokepoints and urging the unruly fans to go home.
