Carter Evans, a reporter for KCBS, was dispatched to cover the search for suspected cop killer Christopher Dorner today. He soon found himself in the middle of an intense shootout between the fugitive and authorities.

The audio is beyond chilling (especially after the 5:00 mark). Gunshot after gunshot rings out and Evans is unresponsive to questions about his status.

Some minutes later, the station assured viewers he was OK and he continued reporting from the scene.

Scary, scary stuff.
